We're all familiar with Berlin's most popular tourist attractions. The Brandenburg Gate, Checkpoint Charlie, Alexanderplatz and Unter den Linden are probably the most famous spots, and they're all certainly worth a visit. But we've put together a list of some alternative, surprising and super-instagrammable places that you might not have thought of visiting before. And the great thing about these Instagram hotspots is that your photos will be perfect for using in an IXXI Mini photo collage. So shoot away and enjoy Berlin!
East side gallery
Okay, we'll start with a hotspot that we're pretty sure you do know already. Prepare for a 1.3 km walking photo shoot that will give you enough material to fill an entire memory card. No trip to Berlin would be complete without a visit to this insta-proof gallery where, as well as seeing amazing art, you can immerse yourself in the history of the imposing Berlin Wall.
House of small wonder
It must be the most photographed set of stairs in Berlin: the enchanting spiral staircase at the House of Small Wonder. What an entrance! When you've shot the perfect picture, you can relax in the restaurant where they serve great coffee. And super fun: the barista will turn the foam in your cup into a work of art. (Yes, Another photo op!) We're also quite taken by the restaurant's lovely motto: "Because everyday life is not about the big wonders, it's about the small wonders that make things just a little more pleasant." Definitely worth a visit!
Both the tower itself and the view from the top are excellent subjects for photos. The 368-metre high TV tower offers fantastic 360-degree views of the city. Luckily, there's a lift that whisks you all the way to the top in just 40 seconds so you can start admiring and photographing in no time. In clear weather, you can see up to 40km away!
Avocado Club Berlin
You would think that the popular avocado that's in every item on the menu would be enough fodder for insta-worthy photos, but the real show stealer is actually the pink ladies' room! All the ingredients you need for a perfect shot are here: a plush velvet chair (pink, of course) for posing in, a cheerful green plant, and a big mirror so that you can quasi-nonchalantly look at your phone while you take a selfie. When you've wrapped up your photo shoot, you can enjoy some of the restaurant's delicious dishes – they're also very photogenic, but not as much fun as a pink bathroom. ;)
Tasty food and a backdrop for cool, instagrammable photos. What more could you want? The vast range of eateries and the atmospheric lights strung between them create a dazzling picture. You'll find these market halls in the Kreuzberg district in the west of Berlin.
Michel Berger Hotel
The colourful mailboxes at the hotel entrance, the distinctive lobby, the quirky lampshades made from books… and that's all before you even get to the uniquely decorated rooms. This hotel is an absolute picture!
Neni Berlin/ Monkey bar
Your Instagram experience starts on the ground floor of the 25hours hotel where bikes hang from the ceiling and there's a vintage Mini car in the middle of the entrance lobby! Take the elevator to the top floor where the Restaurant Neni and the Monkey Bar are located, and you'll be rewarded with a beautiful view of the city and the zoo. Hey, that's an appropriate name, the Monkey Bar!
Wow! This place really is a feast for the eyes and for the lens too! The Nhow boutique hotel has already been the subject of many photos. From the colourful floors to the futuristic, streamlined forms in the restaurant, it's all very impressive! The hotel exterior is also worth a photo or two. Hats off to the architect!
This neighbourhood in Mitte is a must-see for street-art lovers and architecture fans alike. The Hackesche Höfe consists of several buildings built around interconnected courtyards. The distinctive blue facades with Moorish mosaics in Jugendstil (also known as Art Nouveau) are super photogenic! Head for the inner courtyard where the flags have been hung out for you and the walls are covered in fabulous, unmissable art posters and grafitti. It's the perfect place for a creative photo shoot.
Take beautiful photos and completely unwind in this huge 210-hectare park in the Mitte district. In the middle of the park is the Berlin Victory Column. You can climb the 282 steps to the top, which we heartily recommend: the view from up there is breath-taking.
Super concept space
If you love concept stores, then you absolutely must see this one. Every corner of this colourful shop is so photogenic that you're bound to have fun! The fabulous thing about Super Concept Space is that you can both eat and shop here. So if your travelling companion is no longer 'in the mood' for shopping, you can plant them in a chair while you snap the neon quote, the paradise of plants, and of course, the IXXI that's on display in this cool concept store!
After you've enjoyed your day out or city trip, show off your beautiful moments at home. Create an IXXI Mini photo collage so that you can display your best photos in your house as well as on Instagram! Also have a look at Instagrammable hotspots #1 Amsterdam.
